Peter James Yanowitch - Leadership Background in Motor Racing and Law
Based in Coral Gables, Florida, Peter J. Yanowitch is a longstanding family and business law attorney who has assisted entrepreneurs and ultra high net worth families for well over thirty years. His full-service boutique practice provides support in commercial litigation, as well as corporate and real estate transactional matters. Peter J. Yanowitch has represented such regional South Florida developers as RAS Development, LLC, which spearheaded the “Douglas Grand” mixed use development in Miami, Florida.
Peter J. Yanowitch used his experience as an amateur and professional race car driver, to build a successful motorsports client list of leading figures in the motorsports industry, including such noteworthy names in racing, including Formula 1 and Indy car champion Emerson Fittipaldi’s, where he acted as Mr. Fittipaldi's personal attorney and managed diverse corporate and litigation matters, and oversaw negotiations related to corporate sponsorship deals and Brazilian television rights of motorsports properties. Peter J. Yanowitch was also the personal and corporate attorney for Ralph Sanchez, who was the founder of the "Miami Grand Prix" Indy Car race in Downtown Miami, and the developer of the Homestead Miami Speedway, and for Dr. Donald Panoz who was the founder of the American LeMans Series and was a former owner of the IMSA sanctioning body.
In addition, Peter J. Yanowitch was the founder and President of Raceworks, LLC, and promoted the CART/American LeMans/Trans Am event in Downtown Miami called “Grand Prix of Americas.” His efforts brought motorsports back to downtown Miami in 2002-2003, which required gaining municipal approval and event permits in the face of major opposition. He also oversaw promotion and marketing of the event, gaining sanctioning body approval of the race track design, the creation of grandstands and VIP hospitality facilities, and other aspects of running a major racing event. He ultimately sold the Raceworks corporate entity to CART which was a public entity.
